Background
Rafie has always been drawn to solving complex problems. As a teenager, he coded websites and econometric models before studying philosophy and economics at university. He began his career as a bond and derivatives trader, managing a £1bn portfolio and trading with central banks during the European sovereign debt crisis and Brexit. While in finance, he also built a successful charity tech startup, but his passion for large-scale, ethical change led him to co-found Genie AI. Rafie left banking and pursued an MSc in Machine Learning, where he met his co-founder, Nitish.

Job Role
As CEO of Genie AI, Rafie leads product strategy, company culture, finance, and long-term vision. His role evolves every six months, but his focus remains on scaling Genie’s impact and transforming the legal industry.
Outside of Work
Rafie is passionate about chess and machine learning, enjoys hiking in the mountains, and loves playing music—particularly jazz guitar and harmonica.
