Tell us about you and your practice

I’ve recently set up my own firm in New Jersey and we do mostly workplace discrimination work.

What are the most time-consuming parts of your day?

Time-consuming would be generating documents and doing case research.

What does Genie do for you?

It’s like having a very well-trained attorney at my beck and call, who will get smarter as I ask it better questions. It’s a tool that’s amazing and I’m only getting better at it as I learn how to use it and I’m barely scraping the surface of what it can do. I personally don’t think I’d be able to do the work that I’m doing at this rate without it.

Tell us how you use Genie for drafting documents?

If I’ve never written a complaint in my jurisdiction before, and I want to start off, I can plug in a bunch of different facts and hit ‘let’s go’ and where I once had a blank white screen I now have parties, issues and possible end avenues of inquiry. I use it like a blank canvas and a pallete:  instead of having a blank paper looking at me, I can input some facts and the document starts to take shape. So now where I had nothing, there are parameters and there’s a landscape.

How much time do you save drafting a document with Genie?

If we’re just doing it straight through, including all the breaks that I have, I’d usually take about eight hours to write a brief. I can do the same thing with Genie in two hours.

Now that your time is saved, you can spend it on other things that may be related to your document or your follow-up with clients.

User-friendliness. It’s simple and the interface is easy to engage with. Genie has ten switches, but they’re powerful and, when used in conjunction with each other, the platform can do anything I ask it to.

How have you found working with the Genie team?

I’m a little upset I don’t get to interact with you guys every day but outside of that you’ve been nothing but professional, cordial and responsive.

How has Genie transformed your practice?

I would say it made it possible and I’m not exaggerating. If I had to learn how to develop templates and I had to consistently rely on other colleagues in the field to give me orientation, I wouldn’t be able to function, I’d be working at my brothers firm or some other firm and making them money.

What is Genie worth to you?

You have only a certain amount of time during the day. You can spend that time drafting the document, researching the document, editing the document, reviewing the document and then finalizing the document. Or you could spend that time plugging in relevant facts, generating the frame of the document and adding your finishing touches to the document. The latter is quicker and more effective. How much is that time worth to you?
